I am Lucas Jones. Welcome to my website.

I have been intrinsically interested in manipulating materials from an early age. Over time my vocabulary of media and process has grown. The first medium was clay followed by paint then various found objects. In high school I learned about steel, wood and graphic design and then I went to college and found GLASS; I have become so intrigued with its possibilities that it has taken precedence in my life, pushing out even the most important things, like sleep.

My life had been so simple, living in a small New Hampshire town, and going to high school. Upon graduation I moved to western New York to study at the Rochester Institute of Technology, and things got complicated, I was exposed to new information and images. Ideas started pouring out of my head and I found I do not have enough time to realize all of them. I feel that this is the burden of the creative mind. I graduated in spring 2001 and opened a studio in downtown Rochester. I am working hard at playing with the world around me, spending most of my free time observing and understanding natures mechanisms and the principles.

My interests range from the mechanics and possibilities of glass and other materials to socio-economic and psychological principles. I am just as interested in work that functions literally and visually as well as socially or politically. There is value and creativity at every level of human activity and I intend to explore as many of these possibilities as my time will allow.
